Benefits Of Medical Massage

Medical massage is different from therapeutic massage. Medical massage therapy is based on a manual therapy system of treatment that addresses the needs of clinical rehabilitation. Medical massage achieves this clinical criteria because it is...

  • applied as manual therapy to the specific area of pain
  • delivered to a region of the body based on evaluation of soft tissue and joint findings
  • not simply limited to tissues but also corrects abnormal conditions affecting the joint

The resulting benefits of medical massage are...

  • little or no pain during treatment
  • quicker recovery
  • less expense
  • professionally competent care

What Is Medical Massage?

Medical Massage is a system of manually applied techniques designed to...

  • reduce pain
  • establish normal tissue tonicity
  • create a positive tissue environment
  • normalize the movement of the musculoskeletal system

Goals of Medical Massage

  • enhance the general well being of the client by using manual techniques to release abnormal soft tissue tension
  • use soft tissue massage, along with active and passive stretching, to bring about a clinical change in the soft tissue
  • identify abnormally tense and rigid soft tissue, such as muscle, ligaments and fascia and apply a scientifically based system of corrective techniques.
  • avoid techniques that stimulate pain responses in the nervous system
  • educate the client about the causes of pain and what changes can be made to keep the pain from returning
  • treat the client with kindness, compassion and above all with respect and dignity
